Main Objective:   To identify institutional arrangements and policy networks that best serve locally determined adaptation needs of the most vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change.
Brief Description: By looking across different countries and at different impact areas, the project explored policy interventions that were favoured by local communities in response to i) water resources in drought prone areas ii) management of resources in coastal areas to respond to extreme weather events such as cyclones, flooding and inundation iii) to enhance food security and agricultural development. The research methods used were literature review, Focus Group Discussions and Participatory Rural Appraisal methods.
Output A ccountry case study report on Bangladesh was prepared at the end of the project. The country report focused on people’s needs and practices particularly of the poorer people who are affected by climate change. Policies and institutional structures need to be designed for effective response to the impacts of climate change.
